Our Story
“These are just kids, regular kids, living in conditions that America has long forgotten.”
Lani Orosco, Missions for Orphans Co-founder
In 2008, while on a humanitarian mission in Kenya, Coney Orosco, Co-founder of Missions for Orphans, embarked on a journey to build a dormitory for Foundation Stone Orphanage in Bondo, Kenya. During this visit, a poignant encounter at Barkowino Primary School underscored the urgent need for medical assistance. A young girl with bladder exstrophy urgently required medical attention, highlighting the common yet unmet healthcare needs due to limited resources. This pivotal moment spurred the founding of Missions for Orphans, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to addressing such critical needs. All donations to Missions for Orphans are tax deductible.
Today, Missions for Orphans focuses its efforts primarily in Kipsaina, situated outside Kitale, where it operates a boys’ home and extends support to surrounding villages. Additionally, the organization is actively involved in the establishment and management of preschools in Pokot villages. With a vision to broaden its impact, Missions for Orphans aspires to expand its reach beyond Kipsaina, ultimately encompassing regions throughout Trans Nzoia and Rift Valley.
